Natural-leaning, all pinot meunier Champagne from a specialist in the variety.
Christophe Mignon's estate is in the Marne Valley, which is the prime area for pinot meunier, which was once considered a workhorse grape but is gaining newfound respect thanks to producers like him. Mignon takes a vineyard-first approach, and devotes an insane amount of care and labour in his farming. This bottling is based on the '14 and '15 vintages, with a dose of still red meunier, and spent two years on the lees in bottle before disgorgement in July 2019. Expect a generous but complex wine, with citrus, berries, earthy spice and chalk, with fine bubbles and intense flavour. Drink this one slowly as it changes in the glass.
